Flying Off In My Own Direction....

okay. so i have never been one to read directions and tend to fly off in my own little direction. finally got down to slicing up some cardboard this afternoon in attempts to make my own light box. my blog friend Kathy over at 'You'll Shoot Your Eye Out' has taken some amazing pics this holiday season and i wanted in on the action.
but..no instructions, no do it right.
didn't cut out the top and didn't have poster board. but..i still needed to play after all. before i begin again that is.
here's a few of my attempts...

so excited for what 2012 has in store. my mind is exploding with newborn photography plans which i hope will be a blossoming new adventure for me. and i am excited about continuing on my photographic journey!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

here we are again. boy this week flew by. and still so much to do. but stop, pause and look.
it's time to post our SHS prompts for this week. so click on over and visit Ashley at Ramblings & Photos and check out these amazing artists.

been slacking on my blog posts lately. ugh. but hope you are all doing well and having a blessed holiday season thus far.

without further chatter...
here's my prompts for this week!

1) What Is It?????

Dudley's first snowfall. had to capture those teeny weeny paw prints this morning.

2) Children/Fur Babies Sleeping..

this is lil 'c'. had my first ever newborn shoot last Sunday! knitted this hat just for the shoot then gave it to momma with the photos.

3) Joy...

my biggest joy these last 2 weeks has been my new lil man 'Dudley'. how can you not love that face? 10 weeks old today!
but i also have to include 2 things that i didn't photograph..
my oldest son was accepted into the Art Institute to begin in July for his Bach in Graphic Design..and my youngest son has straight A's this quarter! soooo proud of them both. it has been a year of blessings indeed!

4) Window...

i love stained glass windows in old churches!

5) Half..

half a seagull?

let me explain! the boys needed to run into a store yesterday, a secret mission, 'Mom, it's Christmas!' assuming it was shopping for me, i had to hang out in the van. had my camera as i was hoping to get pics of trees in this parking lot with cool red berries on them. anyway...the parking lot was full of seagulls. now being a FLA girl born and raised, it still amazes me to see seagulls in York, PA, far away from the blooming sea! they were being extremely cooperative and photogenic. hence my seagull pics. i remembered i still didn't have a 'half' shot. i know, i am stretching it a bit here! LOL

blessings!
i'd love to hear from you!

In Search Of A Star

"They departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy."
Matthew 2:9-10

can you imagine what the wise men felt? as they searched. being led by a single bright shining star in the sky. longing for hope and promise from this child. and the unimaginable joy they felt when they saw Him, that first moment.

may we all be in search of that star while we are here on Earth. only catching glimpses of what the wise men saw and felt. until the day we meet Him face to face.

blessings!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

running so far behind this week. isn't that what we do in december? but didn't want to miss my weekly link-up with Ashley Sisk over at Ramblings & Photos for Scavenger Hunt Sunday.
not overjoyed with all my pics but need to post. busy busy work work busy busy. also had my first newborn photo shoot this morning so i will be posting soon on that. okay without further yacking.
here goes...

1) Less Is More..
this sign was at the end of the live nativity we drove through last night. no glitz. no glamour. but isn't this 'the most'?

2) Holiday Lights..
LOVE me some mercury glass & white lights!

3) Ornaments..
my favorite hunt prompt this week and the one i got the most shots of. sneaking around store trees that is. LOVED the colors here.

4) Cup of Cheer..
i don't drink. i have no 'liquid' shot for this prompt. but this shot makes me hear my boys, who love to talk in their British/English accents, "Want a cup of cheer?'.
guess ya'd have to be hear to understand. LOL

5) Nativity..
wish i had gotten better 'nativity' shots. just wasn't able to get in the drive time this week to pull off the road and sneak pics of all the mangers i saw in folks yards.
so this is the best shot i got of the live nativity drive through. people have no patience for those of us that want to linger awhile..LOL

wishing you all a blessed holiday season.
as always i love to hear from you. and please check out my newborn shots coming up.

First Photo Shoot

Cousins Photoshoot~ 12/4/11

(check out my other blog @ RebekahShayPhotography.blogspot.com)

first official shoot this morning with some adorable wee ones (cousins). it was challenging but so much fun. hopefully i captured some great shots and memories for these moms (and grandma..merry Christmas!). a day for me to remember how busy toddlers are. they were on the go and didn't have much interest in each other or what WE wanted them to do. so i just shot and shot and shot away.
a HUGE thank you to my friend for blessing me with this opportunity.
enough babbling...
here are some of my favorites!

Meet Dudley.....

so here is the new lil man in my life. an 8 week old, 2lb, bouncing ball of fur with a heart as big as a great dane. my Christmas Yorkie (early). it's been 6 months since we lost our girl Hannah to cancer. but this lil man is filling my heart back up again each time he nuzzles up close and looks at me with those little brown eyes.
meet Dudley Hobbs...
(p.s. having a hard time photographing this lil ball of energy as most of my pics are a whiz of black blur~LOL)

fierce!

long day!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

SHS again with Ashley Sisk over at Ramblings & Photos!
this weeks prompts are "Potrait, Nostalgic, Time, Full Of Light and Motion".
here we go......

1) Portrait~

this is part of a portrait my son gave me for Christmas last year, a charcoal sketch from a candid photo of me that hangs framed in my studio. (i cropped out the part where i am sticking my tongue out at him..didn't want to scare you all~LOL)

2) Nostalgic~

Nostalgic is an adjective meaning to describe a memorable time in one's life or of a different time that has a sentimental meaning. One would say when you are homesick for a place, or land, or going home, you are having nostalgic feelings for that place.

my father took this photo of my Mom when i was a little girl. i have it hanging in my LR with other B&W family photos. i want to jump right into the memory, sitting at her feet as she reads to my little brother and i in front of the Christmas tree. i can almost smell treats baking in the oven. such a simple time.

3) Time~
(Christmas time)

my Mom and i LOVE LOVE LOVE mercury glass. so much that i leave some of it out all year long. but it feels to me like a time gone by...vintage Christmas.

4)Full Of Light~

these candles were floating in an old antique bath sink. omgosh i LOVED it. but the tub wasn't for sale, so of course i brought home a few candles. discovered this quaint little shop in Maytown. can't wait to go back!

5) Motion~

i love rain. rain drops. the sound. and even the feel of a rainy day. it evokes emotion. memories of tomato soup and grilled cheese. i love to capture the motion of a single rain drop on a leaf or twig. the background color in this photo also felt very fluid to me. maybe it's not 'motion' to some. but it's 'motion' to me.
one day, my cabin/cottage tucked away in the woods will have a tin roof, so i can listen to the pitter patter of raindrops above. what a soothing sound it will be.

wishing you all a blessed week as we get ready for the holidays!

as always i love to here your comments. stay tuned, i got an early Christmas present that my camera is dying to capture!!!
